A financier rescued an elderly woman who was trying to jump from a seventh-floor balcony in Monza.
Monza, July 16, 2025 - A young marshal serving with the Economic and Financial Police Unit of Monza intervened yesterday in an apartment building located in the city center, adjacent to the barracks housing the Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza in Piazza Diaz, to prevent the attempted suicide of an elderly woman sitting on the parapet of her balcony and trying to jump into the void.
The report was made by two passersby who were in the internal courtyard of the building and who alerted the soldier on duty, who in turn alerted the Finance Police of the public utility service 117 and the emergency number 112 – the emergency medical service, the Monza Fire Brigade and a State Police patrol car.
At this point, the Guardia di Finanza Inspector, on duty for another type of service, considering the worrying situation, together with some colleagues in civilian clothes, managed to intercept the woman's husband who was returning home at that moment and, warning him of the possible extreme act, accompanied him to the elderly couple's home.
After reaching the seventh-floor apartment, the marshal restrained the woman with her legs dangling over the balcony railing, safely bringing her back inside after several moments of intense tension and agitation. While awaiting the arrival of emergency personnel, he took care to comfort the couple and administer first aid. Thanks to his timely and decisive action, supported by the emergency response team immediately activated by the Monza and Brianza Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza, the woman was then entrusted to the medical care of 118 personnel.
