Municipal elections. Center-right at crossroads on future mayor

The municipal elections to choose the new mayor of Lecco are approaching, but in the center-right there is still neither a mayoral candidate nor allies. While on the opposite front, in the center-left , they are grappling with the case of the frozen resignation of the anti-bullying councilor who behaved like a cyberbully, in the center-right they are trying to find a compromise on a candidate that everyone likes. The Northern League has put three possible candidates on the table for discussion. They are: Carlo Piazza, born in Acquate in 1992, member of the provincial board of the League , and the city councilor Stefano Parolari, also a member of the League, aged 58. As an alternative, there is another Piazza, Mauro, aged 52, regional undersecretary. "A true Lecchese, who with his over twenty years of administrative experience would represent the strong leadership that Lecco needs", they claim from the League board. He will be the candidate of the League, assuming he agrees to leave a regional position, in the event of a solo run.

The counter-proposal to the Lega trio from Fratelli d'Italia was not long in coming: it is that of Filippo Boscagli, 45, also a city councilor. "A serious, competent profile, with strong administrative experience and an authentic bond with the territory - explain the Melonians, who believe that it is up to them to express the mayoral candidate -. He can best represent the entire coalition and lead Lecco with balance and vision". The Lega members also have to deal with their allies from Forza Italia , who would like to expand the coalition to include defectors from Patto per il Nord, a new political movement founded by defectors from the Lega. "A hypothesis that is impracticable for us - warns Daniele Butti, provincial coordinator of the Lega -. Certain paths risk compromising the coherence and identity of the political forces that have worked in synergy so far". For this reason they ask the Lega for clarity and warn that they are ready to present themselves on their own.
