This is a significant job opportunity and, in a period of high unemployment, could be attractive to many. Furthermore, it is not threatened by AI.

In Italy, a profound unemployment crisis has persisted for years. The labor market is characterized by chronic fragility, with a high incidence of undeclared and informal work . It is estimated that millions of workers are employed without contracts or under irregular conditions, deprived of fundamental protections and rights.

This situation is exacerbated by the widespread use of fixed-term contracts , often short-term, which trap workers in a never-ending cycle of precarious employment. Many find themselves renewing contracts for limited periods , without the possibility of building economic or professional stability.

The result is a persistently high unemployment rate , particularly affecting young people and women. Despite some monthly fluctuations, the structural problem of the lack of stable and decent jobs continues to weigh on the country's social and economic fabric.

Job insecurity not only undermines workers' security , but also impacts their ability to access loans, mortgages, and plan for the future. This situation fuels a widespread sense of uncertainty and impedes a full economic recovery.

Artificial intelligence will replace workers

Artificial Intelligence is poised to revolutionize the world of work , automating numerous tasks and replacing several professions in the near future. All those roles that involve repetitive, data-driven tasks and little need for human interaction or creativity will be at risk. Among the jobs that will be most impacted by AI are: data entry operators , for entering and organizing data;

Obviously, cashiers and retail clerks will also be replaced by self-checkout machines and smart management systems; call center and basic customer support staff will be replaced by increasingly sophisticated chatbots and virtual assistants; translators will be employed for standardized content; and even public transport and taxi drivers will be replaced , thanks to the advancement of self-driving vehicles.
