The decisive blow in solving the "case" that had generated strong public concern was the arrest by the Anti-Drug and Organized Crime Sections of the Flying Squad, two days later, on August 8, of three non-EU citizens, two eighteen-year-olds and one 28-year-old, illegally residing in Italy, caught in the woods of Sirta, in the municipality of Forcola, in the act of possession of narcotics for the purpose of dealing.

The reconstruction

They also had with them a deadly former Soviet Union submachine gun , model PPsh-41, in perfect working order and ready for use, with 12 cartridges inserted. The investigative activity coordinated by the Prosecutor's Office later confirmed that these three, together with a fourth individual who has not yet been identified, were the perpetrators of the attempted murder that had occurred a few days earlier in the Postalesio woods and that the motive was precisely that the "Postalesio group", with its activities, had stolen "clients" from the "Sirta group" , thus inducing the latter's members to "assault" the rival camp.

Investigations later revealed that the dangerous "group" of "attackers", in addition to the seized machine gun, had several weapons at their disposal and that during the ambush all four members of the commando were equipped with a weapon each , specifically two rifles and two pistols.

Therefore, given the serious evidence of guilt gathered, the local Public Prosecutor's Office requested and obtained from the investigating judge three precautionary custody orders for the three individuals mentioned above, already detained at the Sondrio prison.
