Storms from North to South: Yellow alert for severe weather in 12 regions

An Atlantic disturbance from central Europe has led to a marked deterioration in the weather in Italy since early this morning. Showers and thunderstorms already hit the North yesterday, and today they are spreading to Central Italy and parts of the South. The most intense and persistent phenomena are expected on the Adriatic coast of Emilia-Romagna and Central Italy.

The activation of civil protection systems

Precisely for this reason, the Department of Civil Protection, in consultation with the affected regions—which are responsible for activating civil protection systems in the affected areas—has issued a severe weather warning. These weather phenomena, impacting various areas of the country, could lead to hydrogeological and hydraulic problems.

The thunderstorms

The warning calls for scattered to widespread rainfall, mainly thunderstorms, starting yesterday evening in Lombardy and Veneto, extending into Emilia-Romagna. From the early hours of today, Monday, July 28, scattered rainfall, mainly thunderstorms, is expected in Tuscany, extending into Lazio, especially inland, Umbria, and Campania. Scattered to widespread rainfall, mainly thunderstorms, has also been occurring since morning in the Marche, Abruzzo, and Molise regions.
