Tourist bus crash in New York State, 5 dead

At least five people died Friday afternoon in a traffic accident involving a tour bus in New York State. The bus, which was headed to New York City, was carrying 54 people, mostly Chinese, Filipino, and Indian tourists returning from Niagara Falls. "We believe the driver" of the bus was "distracted, lost control, and then overreacted," police said, adding that the vehicle veered off the road and overturned. Many of the passengers were not wearing seatbelts. "Every passenger had some type of injury," and at least two were said to have undergone surgery, police said, adding that the driver survived.
