Ukraine, Kiev accepts terms of deal with US on minerals
Ukraine has agreed to the terms of a US-proposed deal to develop critical minerals and rare earths, the Financial Times reported late yesterday, citing Ukrainian sources. Ukrainian officials say Kiev is now ready to sign the deal on the joint development of its mineral resources, including oil and gas, after the US withdrew its claim to $500 billion in potential revenue from the exploitation of these resources. The White House said the signing of the deal is “critical” to “recouping” the money the US spent to support Ukraine and to create a “lasting economic partnership” between the two countries.
