Volunteering expertise in the field of cancer research

Providing professional expertise during working hours to strengthen the operational effectiveness of third sector organizations. The first initiative, launched in July, was co-designed with the AIRC Foundation for Cancer Research and involves the hiring of five professionals who, as part of a development program, will support AIRC staff in project management and personnel recruitment and selection. These are the first steps in the corporate volunteering program promoted by Intesa Sanpaolo's Social Impact Governance Area .
The project represents an opportunity for development and growth for the people of the banking group led by Carlo Messina , who will be able to gain experience in diverse contexts, broadening their personal and professional backgrounds with new social insights.

Intesa Sanpaolo is already promoting projects with other organizations interested in launching this type of collaboration and will launch an internal platform dedicated to collecting applications from individuals wishing to offer their professional services based on the skills needs expressed by nonprofit organizations.
"The collaboration with the Airc Foundation," explained Paolo Bonassi , head of Intesa Sanpaolo's Social Impact Governance Area, "has allowed us to define an innovative legal framework and a comprehensive operational model for volunteering, which can serve as a reference for future agreements with other non-profit organizations and companies interested in undertaking this path."
Skilled volunteering, he adds, "is very popular abroad and creates a virtuous exchange that generates benefits both for the non-profit organization, which can benefit from qualified support, and for the bank's staff, who have the opportunity to experience personal growth."
The Airc Foundation emphasizes the positive impact that skilled volunteering can have on organizations: on the one hand, improving their social footprint and, on the other, enabling them to express their internal talent in new ways.

"We are proud to be pioneers of this new social responsibility initiative alongside Intesa Sanpaolo," says Daniele Finocchiaro, CEO of the AIRC Foundation for Cancer Research. "We immediately seized the opportunity to strengthen the professionalism of our staff by drawing on the expertise of the group's talented individuals to join our organization."
For Finocchiaro is «a further step in the development of the Airc Angels project, born in 2022 and which has already involved over 40 people, which provides the voluntary support of professionals who make their expertise available on particularly complex projects and processes».
