For summer holidays "the average expenditure per family stands at 1,950 euros (+16% compared to 2024), while a family of 4 at the seaside will spend on average 6,539 euros for a week". This is calculated by Confcooperative which estimates the total expenditure for summer holidays at 17 billion, with 16 million Italians travelling during the days of August 15th. "The catering and hospitality services will benefit from approximately 10 billion in the central period of August alone". Among the Favorite destinations: "sea 60% of preferences; mountains 25% of choices, growing due to the escape from the heat effect; agritourism 15% of preferences, booming sector with +20% of reservations". But "8.4 million Italians remain at home, 1 out of 2 for economic reasons". "Tourism confirms its centrality in the economy Italian, but the data also give us the image of a "A divided country", comments the president of Confcooperative, Maurizio Gardini: "Alongside a part of the population that maintains spending power, a segment of Italians emerges excluded from holidays".
