Rediscovering being together: 7 out of 10 Italians want more authentic sociality

In an Italy that is increasingly hyper-connected digitally but paradoxically less connected in real life, a noteworthy social phenomenon emerges: " Italian Togetherness ". This new way of understanding sociality , identified by a recent study by Bibite Sanpellegrino , reveals a growing desire among Italians to rediscover the value of authentic face-to-face relationships . The study, conducted using the Swoa (Social web opinion analysis) methodology on a sample of 1,200 Italians, highlights that 7 out of 10 compatriots feel the need to have more moments of direct sociality during the year . However, only one in four actually manages to dedicate a lot of time to social relationships.

But what prevents Italians from socializing ? In first place is the lack of time (67%), followed by family commitments (63%) and work (54%). There are also personal factors such as laziness, admitted by 55% of those interviewed, and shyness or introversion (38%). A significant fact concerns the ambivalence of technology: 52% of Italians say they prefer digital interactions to live ones, often for convenience. When they manage to find the time to spend together, Italians prefer simple and convivial occasions such as aperitifs (64%) and shared meals (48%), preferably experienced in bars and restaurants (68%) or in open spaces such as parks (65%) and squares (61%). The evening and mid-day are the most popular moments, especially during the weekend.

An unexpected fact emerges regarding the people with whom Italians prefer to spend these moments : if friends (71%) and partners (65%) remain in first place, the presence of neighbors stands out (55%), who even surpass parents (46%) and other relatives (39%). This phenomenon suggests the emergence of a community of proximity that revitalizes neighborly relationships.

Socializing becomes an antidote to the chaos of everyday life: 64% of Italians report an improvement in mood and a reduction in stress after a convivial moment, while 58% say they have clearer ideas. The best memories linked to socializing include lunches and dinners with friends (75%), aperitifs after work (71%) and Sunday lunches with the family (67%).
