Cesena, 7 June 2025 – Bad news for those looking for a house to rent . Rental prices in Romagna are at 'all-time highs'. According to the Sicet Cisl Romagna survey on Immobiliare.it, rents are growing unstoppably and a house is increasingly out of reach for workers, students and pensioners. The data, updated to May 2025, show a marked increase in rents per square meter in Cesena, Forlì, Rimini and Ravenna .

In the province of Forlì-Cesena , rents increased from 8 euros per meter to 10 euros per square meter, marking a +26.4% in five years and a +6.5% in just five months, from January to May 2025. In Cesena , the average rent went from 7.96 euros per square meter to 10.67 euros per square meter, with an increase of 6.3% in 2025 and a maximum peak of 11.06 euros per square meter in July 2024.

A big problem, according to Sicet Cisl Romagna, for seasonal workers , students renting and pensioners. “We are seeing more and more young workers – explains Luca Giacobbe, general secretary of Sicet Cisl Romagna – who, despite having a seasonal contract, cannot find a place to sleep. In many cases they are forced to find temporary solutions, to move every week, or even to refuse employment”. Things are no better for those living on their pension .

The increase in rents also hits hard many elderly people , who find themselves having to pay unsustainable rents, with fixed and often modest incomes. The Sicet Cisl Romagna union launches an appeal to the institutions: "We must intervene now, before the problem explodes. Structural policies are needed to contain the 'high cost of housing' and guarantee the right to housing".
