Borrelli becomes a lifeguard, while the MP moves swimmers to Mappatella Beach.

One of the last live broadcasts
In a video posted on his Facebook page, Italy's most socially active politician ended up mediating between two families on the beach over a "disturbing" topless woman. We didn't know that this role also fell to a member of Parliament, elected and paid by the citizens.

Francesco Emilio Borrelli is once again in the spotlight on social media. This time as a lifeguard . During yet another Facebook Live broadcast on his page from Mappatella Beach (the small Neapolitan beach located on Via Caracciolo , near Rotonda Diaz ), the MP , with hundreds of likes and comments, had to mediate with a woman who was annoyed by the toplessness of two other women, likely tourists.
To prevent the woman from unleashing her anger on the two poor beachgoers, Borrelli had to ask two other people to swap places, their loungers, with those of the woman in the video . Thus, the matter was resolved in the best possible way and no argument broke out. Borrelli , supported by a person who was also sitting under the umbrella with the woman, tried to make the woman understand that there is no law prohibiting topless bathing and that the two women were not committing any crime.
Francesco Emilio Borrelli's new live video from Mappatella BeachBut that wasn't enough for the lady, so Italy's most socially active MP had to show off all his diplomatic skills, rarely displayed in the videos he stars in. Thus, we learned something new. That a member of the Republic , an institutional figure, a member of Parliament , elected and paid by the citizens , in addition to often and willingly appearing live on social media when a dispute needs resolving, can, if necessary, transform into a lifeguard . Obviously, always live on video .
Borrelli and the topless man accused at Mappatella BeachThus, we witnessed, strictly live on social media, the birth of a new profession: the MP-lifeguard . It's hard to say whether this makes you laugh or cry. We can certainly say three things. First: Borrelli 's battles must be shared and supported . Second: the attacks the politician suffered were unacceptable and must be condemned. Third: the ways in which Borrelli engages in politics are not only wrong but also in conflict with his dual role as a journalist and MP . The fact is that we have become so accustomed to seeing everything, we have been so invaded by the degradation caused by many TikTokers , and we have become so accustomed to incivility that even such behavior seems normal to us.
Member of Parliament or lifeguard?By now, watching the videos posted by Borrelli is a bit like watching a new episode of a soap opera . An episode of a larger series that airs on social media . Yet, one thing would have been enough: for Borrelli to have interrupted the live broadcast before beginning his diplomatic work of mediation. But it's clear that the desire and need to show off , to create what in social jargon is called hype (seeking interaction with users at any cost through one's posts ), were stronger than any other motivation . Even those related to the institutional role one holds.
