Energy transition and Mattei's plan: Meloni flies to Tunis to meet with President Saied again after her April trip.

AND A meeting is scheduled for today in Tunis between Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Tunisian President Kais Saied to discuss the Mattei Plan and strengthening bilateral cooperation. Following the meeting, President Meloni will return to Rome.
The Prime Minister's last trip to Tunis dates back to April of last year, accompanied on that occasion by Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi, Minister of Universities and Research Anna Maria Bernini, and Deputy Foreign Minister Edmondo Cirielli. "The very important strategic relationship with Tunisia is one of Italy's top priorities," Meloni emphasized at the end of the meeting with Saied at the Carthage Palace, during which three protocols related to the Mattei Plan were signed : an agreement for direct support to the Tunisian state budget, which included the allocation of 50 million euros to finance energy efficiency and renewable energy; a 55 million euro loan to support Tunisian small and medium-sized businesses ; and a framework agreement between the Italian Ministry of Universities and Research and its Tunisian counterpart, charged with defining the guidelines for cooperation in this sector between the two nations.
