Five Star Movement, Conte: "In Tuscany, online voting will help decide whether to support Giani or go it alone."

An online vote will decide whether the Five Star Movement will support Eugenio Giani 's re-candidate for the Tuscany regional elections or go it alone. Giuseppe Conte made the announcement in a live online broadcast on social media.
"In Tuscany," Conte said, "there was an important meeting yesterday, several hours of discussion, and I attended. In Tuscany, the Five Star Movement has begun months of discussions to try to understand how to approach the competition. The situation is difficult, coming from five years of opposition to Giani, who is the Democratic Party's candidate. For us, it's a huge sacrifice."
The M5S leader continued: "Today we have this coalition, and we're being asked to join. This discussion arose amidst a major dilemma. After so many meetings, yesterday I saw firsthand that our community is torn and fractured; there's still a huge divide. The only way out is through online voting. All members can express their opinion: either we join a coalition, provided that Giani incorporates the most strategic objectives with a clear written agreement. Or the alternative is to go it alone."
Conte then spoke about the elections in other regions. In Puglia, he explained, "we need to turn the page, and we believe Decaro has what it takes to be the best interpreter for this," but "we want the Democratic Party to tell us what it intends to do."
Regarding the vote in Campania, Conte commented: "In Campania, I have nothing to hide: I met De Luca twice, once only, once with Schlein. I didn't sign any secret pact. I've always been very clear: we are willing to lead the renewal, to take responsibility for it, without iconoclastic fury, without starting from scratch. We will evaluate the interest of the citizens of Campania, continuing those projects that have not yet been completed. But real renewal is needed."
