Foreign Affairs Council extends Di Maio's mandate as EU envoy to the Gulf

The EU Foreign Affairs Council has given the green light to the extension of Luigi Di Maio as EU envoy for the Gulf. He has played a key role in the development of both regional and bilateral cooperation with the Gulf countries in the field of political consultations, dialogues on security, trade and investment, green energy and people-to-people relations”, the document reads.

In line with the Joint Communication on a Strategic Partnership with the Gulf - explains the Foreign Affairs Council - Di Maio will continue to develop a stronger, more comprehensive and strategic EU partnership with the countries of the Gulf region , contributing to the stability and security of the area by engaging and supporting dialogue and long-term regional solutions with individual Gulf partners and relevant regional organisations.

According to Ansa, the former Foreign Minister's mandate should also be extended to the geographical area of ​​the Red Sea.
