Gianluca Scotti resigns as Lodi's public works councilor.

July 24, 2025

Gianluca Scotti has resigned from his position as Councillor for Public Works.
Lodi, July 24, 2025 – Gianluca Scotti will no longer be a member of the Furegato administration. The Councilor for Public Works has resigned , renouncing his role and political duties in the administration "effective immediately." This decision , though long-anticipated and in the air after weeks of heated controversy, comes as a surprise in its manner and timing. "This decision," Scotti explains, " was made with a sense of responsibility and stems from the desire to contribute to restoring a more serene climate in the local political debate. In a climate like the current one, I believe the conditions are no longer right for me to continue my mandate peacefully."
Times and waysThe Councilor's resignation , accepted by Lodi's mayor, follows the so-called "Scotti case" and the alleged incompatibility with public office, pursuant to Article 78, paragraph 3, of the Consolidated Law on Local Authorities (TUEL). The Furegato council member has long been under scrutiny by city politicians for what is considered a case of non-compliance, as he is accused of holding private positions in conflict with his public office and the TUEL itself. This violation, even Broletto Secretary General Diego Carlino, has deemed to be true.
The accusationsThe accusations , forcefully leveled by the opposition but also raising concerns within the majority, concerned the coexistence of Scotti's office as councilor and his professional activity as an engineer . Five reports of private practices conducted by the councilor emerged, which could have created a conflict of interest or, at the very least, cast a shadow over the transparency of administrative action. The Order of Engineers and the Prefecture itself were consulted on the matter, with responses that, while not resulting in a declaration of automatic dismissal, emphasized the risks of illegitimacy of the actions and the need for clarity.
Scotti's wordsWith Scotti 's resignation, which he announced he will not renounce "his commitment to local politics," a new chapter opens for the Lodi administration. The Public Works delegation is among the most sensitive and strategic, with numerous projects in the pipeline and the need to ensure continuity of action. The Mayor's decisions on appointing his successor are now awaited, a crucial step in rebuilding the team and overcoming this political crisis. The possibility remains that the Mayor could take over Public Works responsibilities to ensure the immediate continuation of ongoing work and projects, pending a more structured reorganization of the council. It remains to be seen how long the Mayor will retain this delegation and what the next steps will be to reassemble the government team.
