Implementation of laws, strong reminder from President Schifani to councilors regarding timing

Sicilian Regional President Renato Schifani has issued a strong appeal to regional government councilors to take immediate action against the "unacceptable delay" frequently seen in "the adoption of legislative implementing measures." This, Schifani emphasized in a statement, "causes harm to citizens and, in many cases, slows the effectiveness of development and economic measures" in Sicily.

For these reasons, the president explicitly urged all regional bodies to "strictly comply with the deadlines established" by law, acting early when possible, and, if these are not explicitly stated, "to consider a maximum deadline of thirty days." Otherwise, the procedure will be implemented through the process of recall. In the same communication, Schifani also asked the councilors to examine the contents of the Report of the Court of Auditors, the audit section for the Sicilian Region, regarding the internal control system and its audits for the years 2022-2023 and to "activate every useful initiative" to definitively overcome the critical issues identified by the Court of Auditors.
