Is the Democratic Party (PD) far from the poor? A load of rubbish: plans for the homeless and the Milan investigation.

The homeless shelter plan
Why am I telling all this? Because, despite all that needs to be innovated and changed, the portrayal of center-left administrations as socially "insensitive" is complete nonsense.

Through one of the published wiretaps (one of the most incredible to publish, as it was clearly unrelated to the entire investigation), I discovered that, according to one of the suspects, as Milan 's councilor for social services, I had been too "soft" on the homeless. He had complained about this to Mayor Sala.
Now that the dust is settling a bit, I'd like to say I'm incredibly proud of the fact that, as councilor for social services, I helped devise (not alone, of course) one of the most significant reception plans for the homeless (both Italian and foreign) in Europe. In just a few months, we went from providing 1,248 beds under the Moratti administration (who these days I see chattering nonsense about solidarity) to 2,720, and accomplished several other things, including revitalizing the old dormitory on Viale Ortles, transformed into the Enzo Jannacci shelter (now the largest and oldest public homeless center in Europe).
This action (then qualitatively improved in the following years by councilors Gabriele Rabaiotti and Lamberto Bertolé , who just a few hours ago presented a new project dedicated to homeless women) was not only something to be proud of but also saw Mayor Sala totally ready to support it. Because the plan—initiated under the Pisapia administration —was continued by the Sala administration. And while it's true that some may have complained to Sala, it's equally fair to point out that the mayor not only never did anything to prevent such an action, but actually attempted to continue it with other councilors who arrived after me (and I haven't been a member of the municipality for six years).
Why am I telling all this? Because, despite all that needs to be innovated and changed, the portrayal of center-left administrations as socially "insensitive" is complete nonsense. And this applies to those who were there, those who are there, and—I'm convinced—those who will be there.
