It is the day of the fifth intergovernmental summit between Italy and Algeria : the president of Algiers, Abdelmadjid Tebboune , is in Rome for a series of meetings institutions (including the Pope and the President Sergio Mattarella ), culminating in the bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni , who welcomed the Algerian head of state at Villa Pamphilj; the delegations will join the bilateral meeting at a later stage.

Italy-Algeria Business Forum: Over 400 companies to sign approximately 30 trade agreementsThe heart of the day is the Italy-Algeria Business Forum , organized at the Parco dei Principi by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in collaboration with the Italian Trade Agency (ICE). Among those attending were Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani, who, in his opening remarks, emphasized that the North African country is a " strategic partner " and that "we are working" to make the partnership "ever broader, stronger, and more diversified." Meloni and Tebboune will travel to this location after their joint statements to the press (at 2:55 p.m.). Over 400 companies are participating in the Business Forum. Around thirty trade agreements will be signed, especially in the agribusiness , pharmaceutical , transport , infrastructure , and innovation sectors.
“Italian exports to Algeria have an untapped potential of €291 million that can be activated in the short term, with over €2 billion added in the long term . The sectors with the greatest opportunities are mechanical engineering (€91 million), metals (€37 million), and chemicals (€36 million), which alone account for 56% of the total. These numbers clearly demonstrate how much room there is for strengthening economic cooperation between our two countries,” said Barbara Cimmino , vice president for exports and investment attraction at Confindustria , citing estimates from the association's Research Center in her speech at the Italy-Algeria Business Forum.
