The investment worth over PLN 130 million increased the plant's production capacity by more than half.

The modernization of the Ulsan plant has been underway since 2023. As part of the Advancement Project HD, Hyundai has expanded and reorganized production lines, commissioning a new quality control center and receiving building, developing a new office structure, and transforming the plant into a smart factory . The company explains that production and logistics have been streamlined within an integrated factory system, and a real-time product tracking system has been implemented to optimize workflow and overall efficiency.

Welding robots were installed in the production facility, and vision sensors were used on the body welding line, increasing efficiency and ensuring more consistent quality. Automation is further enhanced by AGVs and AI- based quality inspection systems used on the assembly line. The company emphasized that this resulted in a more than 20 percent improvement in labor productivity and reduced machine completion time by up to 35 percent.

As a result, the plant will increase its production capacity by 56 percent to up to 15,000 units per year (up from 9,600 previously), enabling the company to meet growing customer demand globally. The smart factory will serve as a "home base," directly connected to Hyundai's main overseas production facilities and HD product customization centers in Europe and the United States.

"This modernized factory, which utilizes a smart and safe production system , is set to become a world-leading manufacturing center that will integrate advanced technology and environmental sustainability," said HD Hyundai President Kwon Oh-gap.
