The Universe from A to Z, Cosmic Glossary on Video

From A for light year to Z for habitable zone , passing through M for dark matter and S for supernova : all the mysteries of the universe are summarized in a cosmic video glossary created by the National Institute for Astrophysics, easy to consult and explore. The new series of educational videos , each lasting about 2 minutes , is entitled ' The Universe to the Letter ' and will be published by INAF on its YouTube channel on a weekly basis, every Sunday morning until October: 26 episodes , one for each letter of the alphabet, dedicated to the same number of astronomical concepts among the most frequent in the astronomy and space science news spread daily by the press. " Astronomy news is very popular on the web , but the short format does not always allow those who are not already familiar with these topics to delve deeper into the topic and grasp the relevance of the news", observes Claudia Mignone, astrophysicist and science communicator for INAF who is also the creator and author of the project. "This ' cosmic alphabet ' is a small toolbox to help you navigate more easily among black holes, pulsars, quasars and stars of all sorts that so often populate the pages of magazines and newspapers - adds Mignone - using one of the most popular tools today for searching for information and insights online: video". Each video is designed to be simple , accurate and engaging , presenting the celestial object or astronomical concept and then gradually delving into information on the most recent studies on the subject. Presenting the series, directed by Davide Coero Borga, are two young astrophysicists and popularizers of the INAF, Federica Duras and Simone Iovenitti.
