Alijah Arenas, Gilbert's son, in induced coma after crashing car

Alijah Arenas, the 18-year-old American basketball star and son of renowned former player Gilbert Arenas, is in an induced coma after suffering a serious car accident in Los Angeles, according to ESPN .

The young athlete was driving his Tesla Cybertruck when it veered off the road at 4:55 a.m. Thursday and ended up crashing into a fire hydrant and a tree, causing a massive fire.

As a result, Alijah Arenas inhaled noxious smoke for quite some time until he received treatment, forcing doctors to put him into a coma. The extent of his injuries is currently unknown, although his mother, Laura Govan, has asked for prayers for her son on social media.

Alijah Arenas is a standout 6'1" point guard who recently participated in the McDonald's All-American Game, sharing the court with some of the world's most prominent young talents.
