Confidence in Javier Milei's government has fallen again, according to Torcuato Di Tella University

Confidence in Javier Milei 's government in February fell 1.8% compared to January and 0.6% compared to the second month of 2024, according to the School of Government of the Torcuato Di Tella University (UTDT). It should be noted that the survey was conducted between February 3 and 13, one day before the so-called "Libra Scandal" broke out, which had the president as its protagonist and which has him charged in court.
Compared to other presidents at the same stage of their terms, confidence is 8.9% higher at the beginning of Mauricio Macri's second year in office (February 2017), and 40.8% higher during Alberto Fernández's administration (February 2021).
“Milei’s administration remains above its average level of trust of 2.53 during his term. The government is also facing its second consecutive drop in the level of trust. The February 2025 measurement almost replicates the level of trust of February 2024,” the report states. The Government Confidence Index (ICG) has been compiled since November 2001 based on a national public opinion survey and is measured on a scale of 0 to 5.

According to UTDT, confidence was higher among men than among women, in the segment composed of young people between 18 and 29 years old, as well as among people living in the interior (compared to those residing in CABA and GBA) and those who have reached tertiary and/or university education, as well as among those who say they have not been (they or their families) victims of crime in the last 12 months and those who believe that the country's economic situation in a year will be better than it is now.
The variation of the GCI with respect to January was positive in only one of its five components: Efficiency in the administration of public expenditure (+1.9%). On the other hand, the variation of the GCI with respect to January was negative in: Capacity to solve the country's problems (-1.0%), Honesty of officials (-1.1%), General evaluation of the government (-3.0%) and Concern for the general interest (-7.2%).
"The difference between the maximum and minimum values of the ICG in the period from December 2023 to February 2025 is 0.7 points. The range of the ICG in the Macri administration, measured as the difference between the maximum and minimum values starting in January 2016 until February 2017, was 0.79 points. This same range of difference between maximum and minimum scores for Alberto Fernández's administration was 1.47 points," the report states.
