Gruesome discovery: Model and her daughter found dead after an "unusual odor" report

Brazilian model and influencer Lidiane Aline Lourenço (33) and her daughter, Miana Sophya Santos (15), were found dead in their apartment in Rio de Janeiro, after neighbors reported an “unusual smell.”

According to local reports, the bodies were found on Thursday, October 9, after residents of the building were alerted by a strong odor and a lack of response from inside the apartment.

The Rio de Janeiro Fire Department forced entry and found Lidiane's body in a bedroom and her daughter's in the living room.

Initial reports indicate that both had been dead for approximately five days.

The bodies were sent to the Forensic Medical Institute (IML) for autopsy. There is no official cause of death yet.

The police have opened an investigation to clarify the events and determine possible responsibilities.

Relatives, through the law firm Senna Advogados, indicated that Lidiane maintained a close relationship with her daughter, who recently moved to Rio to live with her.

The family denied that Lidiane dropped out of medical school to dedicate herself exclusively to being an influencer. They indicated that, in addition to her work as a model and influencer, she remained involved with her studies.

In May 2024, Lidiane shared her excitement about graduating with a medical degree on social media: “The most important thing in life isn't how many times you fall, but how many times you're willing to get up and try again! Medicine isn't your choice! It chooses you.”

In a statement, the family asked for respect at this time and asked the press and the public to wait for official confirmation so as not to spread unsubstantiated reports that would exacerbate the grief of their loved ones.
