How to process the RUAC for your pet?

With the intention of promoting responsible and conscious ownership of pets, the Government of Mexico City makes available to the capital's residents the Unique Registry of Companion Animals (RUAC) , which aims to generate public policies in favor of pets

But what is the RUAC? According to the official website of the CDMX Government, in addition to promoting animal welfare, registering a pet dog or cat with the RUAC contributes to its protection and makes it easier to locate it in case it goes missing.

To process the Single Registry of Companion Animals, it is necessary to follow a series of steps:

• Enter the online registration platform. To access, you must log in with the CDMX Key Account.
• Record your personal and pet details.
• In addition to capturing the data, photographs of the pet must be uploaded in JPG or PNG format (images must be uploaded in frontal and lateral positions and a photo of the owner with the animal).

Once the information and photos have been uploaded, the RUAC registration will be complete. From that moment on, you will be able to view the card in your CDMX App.

• The procedure is free and mandatory, since, according to the capital's government, "it gives legal certainty to dogs and cats" and "helps prevent abandonment."

In the event of death, change of guardian or change of address of the pet's home, the pet may be deregistered. It should be noted that this procedure is not available for animals whose guardian does not reside in Mexico City.
