Marcelo Ebrard and Mara Lezama promote a development center in Quintana Roo with 16,000 formal jobs.

The Ministry of Economy , headed by Marcelo Ebrard , signed a coordination agreement with the governor of Quintana Roo, Mara Lezama Espinosa , to launch the first Economic Development Hub for Well-being in Chetumal . This project is part of a national strategy promoted by President Claudia Sheinbaum , which includes the installation of 15 similar hubs throughout the country and aims to promote investment, create formal jobs, and boost strategic sectors at the regional level.

The agreement establishes federal tax incentives, effective until 2030 , aimed at promoting productive investment and the growth of key industries in the region. Benefits include a 100% deduction on investments in fixed assets and an additional 25% for training and innovation .

According to official projections, the new development center in Chetumal could generate up to 16,000 formal jobs in five years , directly benefiting residents of the municipalities of Othón P. Blanco , Bacalar , and Calakmul (the latter in Campeche). The strategy includes boosting sectors such as:

During the same event, the Ministry of Economy also announced that Chetumal will be the first city in the country to incorporate Taruk electric buses , produced entirely in Mexico. Taruk buses are the result of a collaboration between Mexican companies , the public sector , and national research centers . The goal is to create a local alternative to public transportation that is efficient, modern, and environmentally friendly.
