MÉRIDA, Yucatán.— Pemex retirees and pensioners gathered in front of the Government Palace to demand adequate medical care and services and respect for their labor rights .
There are about 40 retirees and pensioners who began installing banners at 8 a.m. accusing former Pemex officials Octavio Romero Oropeza and Rodolfo Lehman Mendoza of looting the state-owned company and specifically Lehman Mendoza of causing a crisis in medical services for Pemex retirees and pensioners.

Servio Rosado Aparicio , who heads this activity, said that for a year they have been without adequate medical services, with a lack of medicines and poor care, but on February 18, Pemex's medical services were closed permanently, so they decided to carry out this blockade. "If we are going to die, let it be fighting," said the oil activist, who asked for a coffin for the protest and set it up in front of the government palace.
Rosado Aparicio demanded that someone from the government attend to them and solve the problem of medical care. Otherwise, she said, they will remain in the place and if they still do not get a solution, tomorrow morning they will block Itzaes Avenue near the Mérida airport .
