Sheinbaum announces the distribution of support for those affected by the rains.

CDMX.- President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo reported on the progress made in the various municipalities of Hidalgo, Puebla, Querétaro, San Luis Potosí, and Veracruz , which were affected by the heavy rains.
He also said that this Wednesday, October 22, the distribution of aid to victims will begin. They will receive 20,000 pesos, which could result in two more aid packages depending on whether their homes were completely lost.

In a video on social media, Sheinbaum Pardo highlighted that various roads and services have been restored, although 112 towns remain without land communication, out of a total of 288 that were initially isolated.
Hidalgo has the largest number of isolated communities with 74 of 184, followed by Veracruz with 31 of 51, and Puebla with 7 of 32. Meanwhile, in Querétaro (0 of 17) and San Luis Potosí (0 of 4), full connection has already been reestablished.
He explained that in Veracruz, the municipal seat of Ilamatlán is still inaccessible because of extensive landslides on the roads.
"I want to thank the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of the Navy, the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation, the workers from all the states of the Republic who have been working all these days, the governors, and above all, the always generous people of Mexico, " he emphasized.

CENSUS MORE THAN 79 THOUSAND HOMES
The Mexican government reported that it is continuing to respond to the emergency caused by the extraordinary rainfall that affected the states of Veracruz, Puebla, Hidalgo, Querétaro, and San Luis Potosí, with a coordinated response across federal, state, and municipal agencies.
According to the latest official report, the Ministry of Welfare has surveyed 79,816 damaged homes as part of the effort to provide assistance to affected families. By state, the records are distributed as follows: 48,719 in Veracruz; 11,279 in Puebla; 8,938 in San Luis Potosí; 8,415 in Hidalgo; and 2,465 in Querétaro.

Authorities reported that the death toll remains at 76, with 31 still unaccounted for, while the search and support for the hardest-hit communities continues. The 079 hotline remains active for reports and requests for assistance.
Regarding infrastructure , the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) reported that, of the 481 incidents detected at the beginning of the emergency, 174 have already been addressed , and work continues in areas with blocked roads.
In this sense, 112 localities without land access are registered, mainly in Hidalgo (74), Veracruz (31) and Puebla (7), where the population has received water and food by air.
Power restoration is 99.34% complete, thanks to the work of 1,158 electricians.
Of the 265,605 affected users, 263,968 already have service. San Luis Potosí, Puebla, and Querétaro have been fully restored, while in Hidalgo and Veracruz, less than 1% have yet to be reconnected.
As part of the support, 4,499 telephone and internet chips have been delivered out of the 13,000 planned, available at CFE Customer Service Centers and Mexican Postal Service (SEPOMEX) offices in Veracruz, Hidalgo, and Puebla.
Coordination between the Ministry of National Defense, the Navy, the National Guard, and local authorities has allowed for the distribution of 293,582 food parcels, while the Health Sector has provided 93,582 medical consultations and administered 49,137 vaccines in the affected communities.
Likewise , 964 educational centers have been reported affected, where cleaning and sanitation work has already begun, and 73 temporary shelters remain open in Veracruz, Puebla, and Hidalgo, providing care to 6,886 people.
The federal government reiterated that it will continue coordinated actions to ensure comprehensive care for affected families and accelerate recovery in the areas impacted by the rains.
MORE THAN 492 SCHOOLS AFFECTED
The Ministry of Public Education (SEP) reported that of the 1,297 schools reported as damaged by recent storms , 805 have been intervened, while 492 educational institutions located in Hidalgo, Puebla, Querétaro, San Luis Potosí and Veracruz are undergoing evaluations.
In a statement, the company emphasized that the institutional insurance operated by Agroasemex covers 3.2 billion pesos (mdp), resources that will allow for timely response to the damage caused to school facilities in the affected states, ensuring the safety and well-being of school communities.

He noted that in the Huasteca region of San Luis Potosí, the floods left mud and minor damage to furniture and walls, adding that thanks to insurance, immediate repairs are being made so the schools can continue operating. In some cases, such as those near rivers, complete reconstruction will be necessary to protect students and teachers.
He stated that in Huejutla, Hidalgo, several schools were covered in more than a meter of mud. Cleaning, disinfection, and structural assessment efforts have already begun, using insurance funds to address serious damage and ensure educational continuity.
He mentioned that the SEP will continue working in coordination with state and municipal authorities to ensure a safe return to classes, ensuring that insurance funds are used transparently and efficiently for the benefit of the education of the country's girls, boys, and young people.
He commented that the agency is implementing a comprehensive, three-stage plan to ensure the country's schools are in optimal conditions for the return to classes, prioritizing safety, cleanliness, and equipment. This effort is being carried out in coordination with state and municipal authorities, parents, and school communities.
In the first stage, he explained, sewers are being dredged, courtyards, classrooms, and common areas are being deep cleaned, and water tanks and cisterns are being disinfected , with the goal of ensuring healthy and safe environments for students, teachers, and administrative staff, especially in areas affected by recent rains.
He explained that the second phase includes the replacement of school furniture, including computers, supplies, classroom furniture, laboratory materials, and teaching equipment, with the goal of fully restoring teaching and learning conditions. The third phase will address schools that have suffered major damage, repairing or erecting walls, and replacing collapsed roofs or columns.
He emphasized that the SEP works to ensure that no school is left behind and that all girls, boys, and young people have the necessary resources to continue their studies in decent environments.
