Woman attempts suicide in Gómez Palacio

In the early hours of Friday, a woman attempted suicide in Gómez Palacio after jumping off the Centenario Bridge, located over Rebollo Acosta Boulevard, near the interchange that connects with Ejército Mexicano Boulevard.
The incident occurred around 6:15 a.m. when people passing by noticed a woman at the top of the structure, apparently intent on taking her own life. After realizing the imminent danger, witnesses immediately reported the incident to the 911 emergency system, which mobilized various emergency and security forces.
Unfortunately, before rescuers could intervene, the woman jumped several meters into the void, landing heavily on the asphalt. Miraculously, she survived the impact.
The woman was identified as Bertha Alicia, 37 years old. Upon arrival, Traffic and Highway patrol officers, along with Firefighters, Municipal Police, and State Police personnel, confirmed that she still had vital signs, although she had multiple injuries to various parts of her body.
Minutes later, Mexican Red Cross paramedics arrived and provided pre-hospital care on-site, stabilizing her enough to be rushed to Gómez Palacio General Hospital, where she remains under medical supervision, with a reserved prognosis due to the severity of her injuries.
The relevant authorities will be responsible for opening the investigation file.
