Assured Fleet Servies and Motor Tàrrega acquire the Amac production unit

Amac, a family-owned group specializing in automotive repair shops, has managed to survive bankruptcy proceedings. Barcelona's Commercial Court No. 3 has awarded the business's production unit to two companies: Assured Fleet Services, a British group that will take over management of Injecció Amat (a repair business), and Motor Tàrrega, which will take over the subsidiary Amat Fleet, specializing in truck fleet management.
With this award, Assured and Motor Tàrrega have managed to preserve 77 jobs—67 and 10, respectively—out of a total of 124 that existed to date. "We are very satisfied," says lawyer Joan Alegre, head of the legal department at Assemp BCN Assessors Empresarials, which represented Amac.
The process was overseen by insolvency administrator Laia Folguera of the firm BDO, who praised the speed with which it was carried out. Amac filed for bankruptcy last February, with binding offers from an interested company. Two other companies submitted bids during the bidding process. Motor Tàrrega Assured was ultimately awarded the production units. For the next three years, they are committed to continuing the family business, founded 50 years ago in Montcada i Reixac.
The company had revenues of €14 million last year, although it had previously exceeded €20 million. Price increases in the sector and losses caused by a client led the company to file for bankruptcy.
