Free subway: turnstiles will be removed from a Line B station in solidarity with the Garrahan Hospital.

Next Thursday, July 17, the Line B subway will lift its turnstiles at the Federico Lacroze station and will waive fares for passengers. This will take place from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. in defense of theGarrahan Hospital and its workers, whom they will join in the mobilization. This was announced by the Subway and Premetro Workers' Union (AGTSyP) on its social media.
The union, in an action led by its executive secretary, Claudio Dellecarbonara , reported that the measure seeks to support "the struggle of the Garrahan workers," who are demanding salary increases, improved working conditions, and a larger budget for public health.
"This Thursday, we're marching alongside the Confederation of Transport Workers, the CTA de los Trabajadores (CTA Workers), the CTA Autónoma (Autonomous CTA), the UTEP (National Union of Transport Workers), and all Argentines in defense of Garrahan and Public Health against the Milei administration's austerity measures," the union said on social media.
During the protest, the metro delegates will also denounce the presence of asbestos in the network and demand an emergency declaration for Line B. In the afternoon, they will join the march called by hospital workers, which will depart at 4:30 p.m. from Congress to Plaza de Mayo.
Workers at Garrahan Hospital will hold a 24-hour strike tomorrow, starting at 7 a.m., with only emergency services and inpatient care remaining. They will also march from the National Congress to Plaza de Mayo at 4:30 p.m.
"We're going to hold a major march to defend the Hospital, public health, children, retirees, students, people with disabilities, and all sectors threatened by the National Government," stated the Association of Professionals and Technicians of the Garrahan Hospital (APyT).
On the one hand, they are demanding a starting salary of at least 1,800,000 pesos "to stem the wave of resignations, which has already reached more than 220 professionals in recent months." They are also requesting that "the precarious employment of residents and fellows be halted" and that "the depletion" of the institution be reversed.
