Defense Minister Luis Petri uploaded a video to his X account early in the morning aboard the first F-16 that arrived in Argentina.

"The first F-16 is already in Argentina. Thanks to the determination of President Javier Milei we have recovered supersonic capacity," the official wrote in his message, along with the recording where he is seen speaking to the camera while in command of the plane.

The ceremony took place at the VI Air Brigade in Tandil, in the province of Buenos Aires. The aircraft had been purchased from Denmark in 2024. According to Petri, another 24 aircraft will arrive to "defend the peace and security of all Argentines."

In a decree published early Tuesday, the government declared the Venezuelan criminal gang Tren de Aragua a terrorist organization, which had already been considered as such in other countries in the region and in the United States.

The text, signed by the Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich, lists the reasons why Tren de Aragua is designated as a terrorist organization.
