Hollow Knight: Silksong demo coming to Gamescom 2025 on Xbox

For years, the gaming community has been waiting for one piece of news: “Silksong is now playable!” And while there’s still no official release date, Microsoft has just delivered something that’s ignited global excitement: the first playable demo of Hollow Knight: Silksong will be available at Gamescom 2025.

There is one small detail though: if you want to be one of the first to try it out, you'll have to travel to Cologne, Germany , where Xbox will be setting up a booth with over 20 playable games , including this highly anticipated indie from Team Cherry .

It's no exaggeration: Silksong has been at the top of Steam's wishlist for over two years. The sequel to the award-winning Hollow Knight puts us in the shoes of Hornet and promises an even more challenging and artistic experience.

At this Gamescom, you'll finally be able to feel the controller in your hands, navigate a new Metroidvania world, and see for yourself if the wait was worth it.

The Silksong demo won't be alone. Xbox has prepared a real party for attendees with titles including:

• Grounded 2
• Borderlands 4
• Ninja Gaiden 4
• Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater
• Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade

And many more. In total, more than 120 gaming stations will be available.

Microsoft hasn't forgotten about those staying home. Through its YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook channels, the company will broadcast two major events:

• August 20 , 3:00 PM (Spain): Featuring Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 , Grounded 2 , and more.
• August 21 , 3:00 PM (Spain): presentations of Ninja Gaiden 4 , Overwatch 2 and The Outer Worlds 2 .

For many fans, this playable demo is more than just a teaser: it's a sign that the game is nearing completion . While Team Cherry hasn't given an exact release date, public gameplay suggests development is entering its final phase.
