Marijke Helwegen concerned about cosmetic surgery in young women: 'Unusual and disturbing'

"I don't need all that stuff on my body anymore," says the media personality. "As someone who has lived through it, I've undergone a fair amount of cosmetic surgery in my life. What I see around me now does worry me," she says.

The greatest danger lies in videos and photos from influencers on TikTok or Instagram, who often paint an unrealistic picture of what you can do with your body. Young women are often misled when these videos and photos are edited with filters.

According to Marijke, young women with a negative self-image often fall for this. "I find it remarkable and disturbing that they undergo so much remodeling at such a young age. Larger breasts, buttock implants, the excessive use of fillers and Botox, you name it."

"I'm quite worried about that. Because between 20 and 30, you're truly at your most beautiful and certainly not ugly. You shouldn't start renovating your body then," she believes.

Marijke argues that it's important to stay realistic and not be influenced by the perfect images on social media. "Those images are often unrealistic and lead to unnecessary pressure."

Although she's sworn off major surgery for a while now, the media personality still gets some work done every now and then. "Currently, I only use a little Botox now and then, or fillers. That's all! After a long search, I finally found the right doctor for me: someone who is honest, listens, and delivers quality. I want that for every woman."

She concludes: "These days I'm glad I don't undergo any major renovations anymore. Of course, I still want to look a little attractive at my age."
