Prince's child

Prince's child

In 1951, I was four years old and lived in Breda across the street from Claudius Prinsen, a legendary mayor of Breda. I was playing outside when I was lured into the garden across the street, where a "scary" older boy (nine years old!) shouted loudly: "Come into the tent, come into the tent, you can laugh here for a penny!" With a penny in my hand, I entered his one-person tent, where he concocted a series of delightful stories. An afternoon I still remember as one of my earliest experiences. I think I was one of Joost's first paying visitors.
