It's better not to eat these donuts. Dietitian warns
— Not all donuts are the same. Those from a good bakery have a better composition than their supermarket counterparts, which often contain artificial additives and hydrogenated fats — says clinical dietitian Katarzyna Lisiecka from the Provincial Specialist Hospital of St. Barbara in Sosnowiec in an interview with PAP. Dietitians emphasize that on Fat Thursday we should consciously choose donuts, and then we can afford them without major pangs of conscience.
The nutrition expert emphasizes that it is quality that counts, not quantity. In an interview with PAP, she explained that conscious choices allow you to enjoy Fat Thursday without remorse and negative health effects.
A much better choice will certainly be a donut with a short, understandable composition. I opt for one, symbolic donut from a good, proven bakery, not from a cheap hypermarket, because the compositions of such products usually leave much to be desired.
— says Katarzyna Lisiecka, quoted by PAP.
She emphasizes that traditional confectioneries use natural ingredients, such as flour, eggs, butter, milk and real sugar, while doughnuts from supermarkets often contain preservatives, hydrogenated fats and artificial flavors, which are supposed to extend their shelf life and reduce production costs. In addition, and very importantly, doughnuts in bakeries are usually fried in fresh fat, not in repeatedly heated industrial oil. This has a big impact on both the taste of doughnuts and our health.
Fat Thursday: How to Eat Donuts HealthilyIf we eat healthily every day, our diet is rich in fruits and vegetables, then one doughnut on Fat Thursday will not harm us. Moderation is recommended for people who are losing weight, have been diagnosed with diabetes or other diseases. People with diabetes and metabolic problems should be careful not to disturb their blood sugar levels
— says the dietitian.
And after eating a donut, it's worth taking care of movement. Even a short walk is advisable.
The expert added in an interview with PAP that if we take care of a healthy diet on a daily basis, an occasional sweet pleasure will not have a negative impact on the body.
