Lower Silesia at EXPO 2025

Diversity, tradition intertwined with innovation, culture, tourism, science and business – this is the Lower Silesian recipe for the World Exhibition EXPO. Lower Silesia presented itself for the entire week in Osaka, Japan – in the Polish Pavilion – whose main theme is the music of Fryderyk Chopin – a universal language of emotions and culture.
Lower Silesia at EXPO 2025 immersed visitors in its history, culture and science through workshops, concerts, craft shows, scientific presentations and economic meetings. Lower Silesia's participation in the world exhibition was an opportunity to show the region not only as a place with tourist and economic potential, but also as an open space, constantly developing and ready for international cooperation.
– EXPO is a chance to rediscover Lower Silesia, based on the language of shared values: culture, innovation and science – says Michał Rado, Deputy Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. – We wanted visitors to be able to feel our culture, tradition and history through direct contact with the Lower Silesian heritage. We hope that the wealth of our monuments will encourage the Japanese to visit Lower Silesia – adds Deputy Marshal Rado .

During the Lower Silesian week, visitors to the EXPO Exhibition from all over the world could take part in ceramic decoration workshops with Manufaktura Bolesławiec. The time was made more pleasant by the musicians of the LutosAir Quintet from the Witold Lutosławski National Forum of Music, where during concerts, participants could stand behind the conductor's desk themselves.
Wrocław – the capital of Lower Silesia – presented a unique project of city gnomes, a symbol of the city's openness and creativity. There were such characters as the busy Syzyfki, the smiling Kind-hearted, the fearless Pożarki or the one-of-a-kind Wroclovek, who accompany residents and tourists in the city space every day.
The Lower Silesian accent was also brought by the Museum of Papermaking in Duszniki-Zdrój, presenting the traditional technique of papermaking – a material of special importance in Japanese culture. Meetings with partners from Japan are also aimed at initiating international cooperation.
The scientific voice belonged to the Medical University of Wrocław, presenting the region's potential in biomedical research and innovative medical technologies.
Artist Marcin Zieliński also presented his works of art, which were made using historic machines from the Sudety Glassworks and local granite from Strzegom – showing how the tradition of glassmaking can inspire contemporary creativity.
- An important element of Lower Silesia's presence at EXPO 2025 was also the presentation of our Lower Silesian entrepreneurs from the following sectors: agri-food, green technologies, medical and dental devices and instruments, as well as IT and AI solutions for smart cities. Numerous B2B meetings, as well as a visit to the Japanese innovation hub, aimed to strengthen economic cooperation and support the internationalization of Lower Silesian companies - emphasizes Deputy Marshal Michał Rado.
The Wrocław Agglomeration Development Agency (ARAW) took care of the presence of Lower Silesian enterprises.
The exhibition of Lower Silesia at EXPO 2025 in Osaka attracted many visitors and made a huge impression on the Japanese. It emphasized the image of the region as a modern, dynamic space ready to build intercultural bridges – in the areas of culture, science, tourism and business.
