New institution in the Vatican. Pope's decision just before hospitalization

Pope Francis has established a Commission for Donations to the Holy See, the Vatican press service reported Wednesday evening. It was one of the Holy Father's last decisions before he began his hospitalization at the Gemelli Hospital in Rome.

The task of the Commission for Donations is to conduct campaigns encouraging donations from the faithful, Episcopal Conferences and other potential donors , to coordinate the acquisition of such funds and to obtain funds for the implementation of specific goals presented by the institutions of the Roman Curia and the Governorate of Vatican City State.

In addition, the body will identify and evaluate projects requiring financial support, establishing priorities for their financing. If Vatican institutions do not submit any projects, the Commission may collect reserve funds to be allocated for future initiatives, explains Vatican News.

The Commission will also seek funding from willing donors for specific projects proposed by the institutions of the Roman Curia and the Vatican Governorate. Its implementation is to begin within the next three months .

As Vatican News reports, the chirograph , the document that established the commission, was signed by the pope on February 11 , three days before he began treatment at the Gemelli Clinic in Rome , where they diagnosed him with double pneumonia.
