Traffic disruptions still in Warsaw. There is an important announcement

As reported by the capital city hall, the situation has not yet returned to normal, and repair work will continue for at least a few more days. This means that travel by underground train is possible to a limited extent.
Metro travel is possible, but only on two sectionsThe Public Transport Authority announced on Wednesday morning that after intensive, all-night technical work, metro traffic on the M1 line has been resumed, but not on the full route. Trains are running from Młociny to Świętokrzyska station and from Kabaty to Wilanowska. The section between Centrum and Wilanowska stations remains out of service.
According to ZTM, replacement buses and trams have been launched on the routes affected by the failure to help passengers move during rush hours. Line M2, despite earlier disruptions on Tuesday, has been running according to schedule since Wednesday.
Rafał Trzaskowski: "The work of technicians brought results"The Mayor of Warsaw, Rafał Trzaskowski, who had convened a crisis team the day before in connection with the situation, announced on Wednesday morning that metro traffic had been partially restored.
"The work of the technicians has brought results. Since this morning, the metro has been operating according to the schedule we announced yesterday. The M1 line has been partially restored to traffic, which will certainly make it easier for many of you to get to work after yesterday's huge difficulties," the president wrote on social media.
The president thanked the services involved in the repair work and added: "Further work will unfortunately continue for some time. We are making every effort to restore service at all stations as soon as possible. We will keep you informed about any changes and progress of the work."
Dangerous fire in the cable tunnelThe failure that paralyzed part of the Warsaw metro occurred on Tuesday morning. A fire broke out at a power substation near the Racławicka station. The fire spread to a cable tunnel located in the technical floor under the service rooms.
Power lines were burning, and the firefighting operation was exceptionally intensive. At the peak of the rescue operation, 11 fire brigades were involved. The fire was brought under control and finally extinguished after 9:00.
Infrastructure damage: power, control, fiber opticsAs reported by the capital city hall, the fire caused serious damage to the technical infrastructure. The devices responsible for power supply and train traffic control systems were destroyed. Fiber optic cables, which are a key element in managing underground traffic, were also damaged.
Although the fire occurred near the M1 line, its consequences were also felt on the M2 line. As a result of the disruption, the frequency of services there was temporarily reduced. Thanks to the quick response of the services and the organization of replacement traffic, passengers had alternative ways of reaching their destinations.
Crisis team and experts on siteOn Tuesday, President Rafał Trzaskowski decided to convene a crisis team to coordinate the actions of city and technical services. An urgent assessment of losses and repairs to damaged infrastructure began.
Experts, including firefighting specialists, also appeared on the scene to determine the cause of the incident. At this stage of the investigation, the involvement of third parties has been ruled out, meaning that the fire was probably technical in nature or the result of an electrical failure.
Alternative transport on standbyAlready on Tuesday, when a failure completely paralyzed the M1 line, the city decided to launch replacement lines. Buses and trams ran with increased frequency and were redirected to make it easier to travel along the closed section of the metro.
ZTM announced that replacement lines will operate until the full restoration of traffic on the entire M1 line. Their network is to be dynamically adapted to the needs of residents.
Residents appreciate the effort but are waiting for a full returnAlthough Tuesday's disruptions caused quite a stir among residents, Wednesday morning brought some relief. Some passengers admit that they expected a long wait for the metro to return to normal, but they positively assess the efficient operation of the services.
Many of them still have to change from one means of transport to another, and traffic jams in the areas of closed stations are particularly bothersome during rush hours.
