A few days ago we described how officials from the Trzebnica Commune flew to… Sardinia for public money. The pretext was the desire to establish cooperation with the local town of Uri. The only problem is that the agreement was signed now, and the officials had been organizing the “trips” for many years. After our publication, the councilor revealed how much the officials’ trips cost us.

At the last session of the City Council, Mayor Marek Długozima presented the councilors with a draft resolution on partnership with the town of Uri in... Sardinia. This is a small town with a population of around 3,000. Why did Trzebnica choose this particular town? Who came up with the initiative? How long have the talks been ongoing? These are the first questions that opposition councilors asked at the session.

Unfortunately, neither the mayor of Długozim nor Mateusz Stanisz gave a clear answer. They started saying that the contacts had been going on for 8 years, that they had been to Sardinia and that a delegation from Italy had come to Trzebnica and participated in the harvest festival. They did not answer who initiated the meetings and where the idea for the partnership with the town of Uri came from. After a while, Paweł Wolski mentioned that there was no point in hiding it, that everyone knew that it was Damianos, who ran a pizzeria, who encouraged contact. Then the mayor and chairman Stanisz suddenly remembered the matter, partially confirming the councilor's suspicions.

The opposition also wanted to know if anyone had already travelled to Sardinia, and if so, whether the trip was financed from public funds. They were told that there had been such a trip and that three people had gone there: Marek Długozima, Mateusz Stanisz and Daniel Buczak. After a while, Stanisz admitted that the commune had covered the plane tickets, and the delegation's accommodation and meals had been paid for by the Italian commune. The councillors asked how much the Italians' stay in our commune had cost, but they did not receive an answer to this question. However, there were many unknowns in the whole matter.
