Warsaw metro after the fire. The mayor of Warsaw spoke out

Following Tuesday's fire, the M1 metro line in Warsaw has been partially restored to service. Trains are currently running in a loop on the Kabaty-Wilanowska section and on the Centrum-Młociny and Młociny-Świętokrzyska routes. The following stations are completely closed to service: Politechnika, Pole Mokotowskie, Racławicka and Wierzbno. "Further work will unfortunately continue for some time," informs the mayor of Warsaw, Rafał Trzaskowski.
The Public Transport Authority announced that the M1 metro line has been partially resumed.
- On the M1 line, the metro does not run in the middle section. You can take metro trains from Młociny to the city center, get off at the Świętokrzyska station , which is the final station for people traveling from Bielany. In the direction of Młociny, you can get on at the Centrum station . The second section of the metro that is in operation is between Kabaty and Wilanowska - said ZTM spokesman Tomasz Kunert on Polsat News.

When asked when traffic would be restored on the entire line, the spokesman stated that "work is ongoing". - I will not undertake to specify the date when this middle section will be launched. The metro services are trying to do it as soon as possible - said Kunert.

On Wednesday , the mayor of Warsaw, Rafał Trzaskowski , commented on the situation. "The work of the technicians has brought results. Since this morning, the metro has been operating according to the schedule we announced yesterday. The M1 line has been partially restored to traffic, which will certainly make it easier for many of you to get to work after yesterday's huge difficulties," he wrote on the X platform.
"Further work will unfortunately continue for some time. We are making every effort to restore service at all stations as soon as possible. We will keep you informed about any changes and progress of work," Trzaskowski noted.
Line M2 runs normally .
Fire in Warsaw metro. Police rule out intentional actionOn Tuesday night, a fire broke out at a power substation near the Racławicka metro station. The cable tunnel, along with the wires, located in the technical floor, i.e. under the rooms, was burning. At the peak, 11 firefighting teams were working on the site. The firefighters finished their work after 9 a.m.
According to the city hall, equipment related to power supply and train traffic control, including optical fibres, was damaged.
- The police do not suspect that the cause of the failure was the action of third parties. Everything is being clarified, we have to wait for the results of the services' work - emphasized the ZTM spokesman.
