World Championships: Poles are on schedule, others can learn from us
The World Cup in the Philippines is full of surprises, even surprises, and nothing is certain. With Olympic champions France, mighty Brazil, and Japan and Germany, who have been playing well in recent years, already out of the tournament, there's a way to beat every favorite.
Fortunately, the Poles don't face these problems, and even if they experience temporary setbacks during matches, struggle, or even lose a set, they manage to get back on track. This is helped by a deep squad, where everyone can be a hero and take the lead when their teammates falter. The same was true in the Round of 16 match against Canada.
Wilfredo Leon started the game, not only attacking brilliantly but also serving powerfully, causing his opponents immense problems. Marcin Komenda, Bartosz Kurek, and Kamil Semeniuk joined the group. The latter was our team's best player, scoring 17 points (including three blockings).
Semeniuk is repaying Grbić for his trust, as the Polish national team receiver has suffered a slight decline in form in recent years. The coach has maintained his faith in him throughout. Interestingly, Semeniuk has been a reserve player until now, as Tomasz Fornal has been starting in the starting six. After the match, Grbić admitted that the receiver has a slight back problem, which is why he played less on Saturday. Despite this, the Polish national team won comfortably 3-1.
