“Calmer” situation in Mondim de Basto
The worst seems to be over in Mondim de Basto, with the fire that hit the municipality on Sunday giving way.
This morning, the mayor of Mondim de Basto told VTM that "Pardelas and Ermelo are in the recovery phase," noting that "the biggest concern is in Fervença, where the fire remains active."
"This morning it's very windy, which could cause some fires to flare up, hence the importance of the cleanup work," added Bruno Ferreira.
In addition to the house that was engulfed in flames yesterday, the mayor estimates that there are “at least a thousand hectares” of burned area in the municipality.
