Almost 30 municipalities at maximum risk of fire, especially in the interior

Almost 30 municipalities located mainly in the districts of Castelo Branco and Portalegre, but also in Viseu, Guarda, Braga, Vila Real and Bragança, are today at maximum risk of rural fires, according to the IPMA.
The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) also placed almost all municipalities in the 18 districts of the mainland at very high and high risk.
Only the municipality of Esposende, in Braga, and Olhão, in Faro, do not present a fire risk.
According to the institute's calculations, the risk of rural fires will remain high in the coming days in some districts located mainly in the north and center of the interior.
This danger, determined by the IPMA, has five levels, ranging from low to high. The calculations are obtained from air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and amount of precipitation in the last 24 hours.
According to IPMA, the districts of Bragança, Évora, Guarda, Vila Real, Beja, Castelo Branco and Portalegre are under yellow warning until 6 pm on Tuesday due to the persistence of high maximum temperature values.
The yellow warning, the least serious, is issued by IPMA when there is a risk situation for certain activities dependent on the meteorological situation.
For today on the continent, partly cloudy or clear skies are expected, with cloudiness on the central coast from the end of the afternoon.
The wind will be strong on the west coast and in the highlands.
A slight drop in temperature is expected in the North and Central regions and a slight rise in the South region.
Minimum temperatures will range between 16 degrees Celsius (in Viana do Castelo) and 21 (in Portalegre) and maximum temperatures between 23 (in Aveiro) and 39 (in Évora and Beja).
