Athletico agrees to buy striker Renan Peixoto from Portuguesa

Athletico closed, this Tuesday (25), the purchase of striker Renan Peixoto from Portuguesa. The clubs reached an agreement for the Paraná team to acquire 70% of the economic rights of the 25-year-old striker, one of the highlights of the red-green team in the group stage of the Campeonato Paulista.

Signed from SC Bregenz, from Austria, for R$2 million in January of this year, Renan had a three-season contract with Lusa. By gaining value in this edition of the State Championship, with three goals and one assist in 11 games, he attracted the attention of other Brazilian clubs. In addition, he helped the club remain in the São Paulo elite for another season and also guarantee a spot in the 2026 Série D of the Brazilian Championship.

Renan is expected in Curitiba on Thursday afternoon to undergo medical examinations and sign a contract with Furacão. In Brazilian football, he played for the youth teams of Corinthians , América-MG and São Caetano. He was promoted to the professional team at ABC Paulista. However, he had few chances to play and signed a transfer to FC Dornbirn in Austria.

The Portuguesa board reported that "the amounts involved in the transfer are 10 times higher than the amount paid to SC Bregenz, from Austria, for the acquisition of the athlete in January of this year".

Renan Peixoto arrives at Athletico to compete for a position in the attack, which has nine other players in the squad, namely Alan Kardec, Mastriani, Arriagada, Matheus Babi, Luiz Fernando, Leozinho, Isaac, Velasco and Tevis.
