Boyfriend arrested after 8-day relationship with elderly man ends in death in Minas Gerais

A 30-year-old man was arrested on Monday (28) suspected of killing a 62-year-old man with whom he had a relationship for about eight days, inPará de Minas , in the Center-West of Minas. The victim was found dead inside his home in the Nossa Senhora das Graças neighborhood, on July 12.

According to the Civil Police , the suspect — whose name was not released — lived with the elderly man and called the Fire Department on the morning of the crime, claiming that he had spoken normally with him the night before, but that, upon waking, he noticed that he no longer showed vital signs.

The body was taken to the Forensic Medical Center, where the autopsy revealed multiple injuries caused by physical assault , possibly with a blunt object.

According to investigations, the man tried to simulate a natural death scenario , but contradicted himself during his testimony.

Witnesses also reported to police that the suspect had behaved strangely the day before the crime, preventing neighbors and friends from having contact with the elderly man .

Based on the evidence, the Civil Police requested the suspect's preventive arrest. He was located in the city center and taken to the prison system, where he remains under judicial custody. The investigation is ongoing.
