Coimbra students with “metals” in karate

Académica/University of Coimbra and the Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra (IPC) had athletes on the podium at the National University Karate Championship held in Braga.
Académica's Rafael Alves, in the -75 kg category, was national runner-up, as was João Seco, also wearing the AAC symbol on his chest, in the -84 kg category. In the same category, Daniel Agostinho, from Académica, won the bronze medal.
In the women's sector, Margarida Jesus, from IPC, in -61 kg, rose to 3rd place on the podium in the competition.
In total, 89 student-athletes from 29 FADU clubs took part in the competition. In competitive terms, 12 new national university champions were crowned, with the University of Porto winning the collective trophy for the sport, with eight medals won.
