EU invests €852 million in battery projects for electric cars

The European Union will invest 852 million euros in six projects related to batteries for electric vehicles, with the aim of "supporting innovation", part of the community bloc's competitiveness strategy.

In a statement released today, the European Commission announced that it will support six "pioneering projects in the production of batteries for electric vehicles" with a total of 852 million euros.

Financing agreements must be signed in the last three months of 2025.

The amount comes from the Innovation Fund based on a project launched in December last year, with the purpose of stimulating investment in the EU in this market, strengthening the competitiveness of European countries.

The supported proposals are not only for the specific manufacture of batteries, they include other production techniques and technologies.
