GCVR closes season with four medals at the National Championships

This competition, held at the Coimbra Olympic Complex, was attended by 705 athletes representing 96 clubs. The GCVR was represented by nine athletes: Ana Margarida Guedes, Carolina Eira, Leonor Silva, Maria Braz, Maria Pereira, Maria Poeta, Miguel Carvalho, Rodrigo Silva, and Tiago Fernandes.
The GCVR was in “excellent form” by winning a national champion title, a national runner-up title, a total of four medals, and also appearing in 11 finals.
Among the titles won, Ana Margarida Guedes stands out, becoming the senior national champion in the 50-meter butterfly with a time of 27.63, maintaining her dominance in the event. The GCVR swimmer also won two more third-place medals, first in the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 26.73 and then in the 100-meter butterfly with a time of 1:02:07. Among the Juniors, Maria Manuel Braz was the national runner-up in the 50-meter breaststroke with a personal best of 33.89.
GCVR's participation also had other highlights: Leonor Silva was 4th in the Junior 50 Butterfly final, 9th in the Junior 50 Freestyle final, and 12th in the 100 Butterfly; Maria Poeta was 5th in the Junior 200 Backstroke final; Maria Braz was 7th in the Junior 100 Breaststroke final and 13th in the 200 Breaststroke; Carolina Eira was 8th in the Senior 100 Backstroke final and 9th in the Senior 50 Backstroke final; Tiago Fernandes, in Juniors, was 14th in the 50 Butterfly, 17th in the 50 Breaststroke and 15th in the 50 Freestyle; Maria Pereira, also in Juniors, was 10th in the 50 Butterfly final and 11th in the 50 Freestyle; Miguel Carvalho, in the Youth category, was 15th in the 50 Breaststroke; Rodrigo Silva was 35th in the 50 Freestyle, in the Junior category.
The GCVR ends the 2024/2025 season in the best possible way, with the club's athletes giving an excellent response in one of the most important national swimming competitions, rewarding all the team's hard work and dedication.
