Luxury homes for sale: 8 out of 10 are located in Lisbon, Faro and Porto

Portugal has more than 16,000 houses advertised with prices above one million euros, of which 2,400 cost more than three million.

Almost every district in mainland Portugal and its islands has at least one house listed on idealista that costs over one million euros. However, the distribution is uneven, as the districts of Lisbon, Faro, and Porto account for 77% of all available houses above this price. In districts and islands with fewer than six houses listed, the percentage is negligible, thus representing 0%.

As of July 1, Portugal had more than 16,000 luxury homes on the market priced over one million euros. Lisbon is the district with the highest number of luxury homes above this price, representing 40.2% of the national total. Next is Faro, with 25.1% of the total, followed by Porto (12% of the total), Setúbal (7.2% of the total), and Madeira Island (6.4% of the total).

Braga is the sixth district with the most properties above one million euros, representing 1.8% of the total, followed by Leiria with 1.2%. With less than 1%, there are Aveiro (0.9%), Santarém (0.8%), Évora (0.7%), Viana do Castelo (0.7%), Beja (0.6%), São Miguel Island (0.5%), Coimbra (0.4%), Portalegre (0.4%), Viseu (0.4%), Vila Real (0.3%), Castelo Branco (0.2%), Bragança (0.1%) and Guarda (0.1%).

On the other hand, the district/island with the fewest luxury homes advertised up to July 1st was Faial Island, with just one. Next were São Jorge Island (3), Porto Santo Island (4), Pico Island (6), and Terceira Island (7), whose share of the national total for this market is insignificant.

Where are the luxury homes that cost more than 3 million euros?

Within the luxury residential world itself, there are even more exclusive homes, costing over three million euros. Within this range of luxury homes, there are 2,400 properties above this price, which were advertised on idealista in early July.

These luxury homes, costing over €3 million, are located primarily in Lisbon (1,198 listings; 49.5% of the total), Faro (667 listings; 27.5% of the total), and Setúbal (228 listings; 9.4% of the total). Next comes Porto (97 listings; 4% of the total) and Madeira Island (78 listings; 3.2% of the total).

It is also noted that the supply of luxury homes above 3 million euros did not exist on July 1 on several islands in the country, such as Terceira Island, Pico Island, Porto Santo Island, São Jorge Island and Faial Island.
